Congressman Charles Rangel said Friday on NY1 he is considering calling for a federal investigation into the use of one of his apartments.
The New York Times revealed last week that Rangel rented three rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem.
He has since given up one which was used as a campaign office.
Speaking on "Inside City Hall" Friday night, Rangel again denied any wrongdoing.
"I will make inquiries into [the Federal Election Commission], the same way I am making inquiries to the [House] Ethics Committee,” said Rangel, “and if I can really stretch your idea of a gift -- which is hard for me to do -- I would take that to the Ethics and I'm thinking of that this weekend."
Earlier this week, Rangel encouraged the HEC to investigate him, after The Washington Post questioned how he solicited donations for an academic center set to be named after him at City College.
