Author and activist Howard Zinn has passed away.
Zinn died yesterday in Los Angeles of a heart attack. He was 87 years old.
He was best known for his text "A People's History of the United States," a leftist interpretation that was first published in 1980 and gradually sold more than a million copies.
The book was embraced by many in the creative community and its influence showed up in pop culture and rock and roll lyrics. "A People's History" was directly referenced in the movie "Good Will Hunting" and the TV series "The Sopranos."
Zinn received degrees from both New York University and Columbia University.
