With only a day left as the Manhattan district attorney, Robert Morgenthau touted his accomplishments over the last 34 years today.

Morgenthau said Manhattan's murder rate is down 90 percent since he took office in 1975, and its decline has outpaced the other boroughs.

He also thanked public officials and lawmakers from the past and present and said the secret to his success was integrity and hard work.

"Every case is important to the victim, so there's no most important case and there's no least important case," said Morgenthau. "I'm sure I've had some disappointments but I'm not worrying about that. I guess the case that I get most satisfaction is when people say, 'You know, you can't win that case.'"

The 90-year-old wished his successor Cy Vance luck and said he will soon take a vacation to celebrate his retirement.
