Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch remains hospitalized in New York Presbyterian Hospital today in anticipation of a Friday procedure to increase blood flow to his heart.
A spokesman for the 84-year-old says the former mayor was scheduled to undergo a coronary angioplasty on Monday at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
However, doctors discovered a damaged valve that was put in place after Koch suffered a heart attack in 1999.
Koch is currently resting at New York Presbyterian Hospital in anticipation of tomorrow's procedure. He is said to be in good spirits.
The doctor performing the surgery is the same surgeon who performed bypass surgery on former President Bill Clinton in 2004.
The three-term mayor is currently a NY1 Wise Guy on the station's political program, "Road to City Hall."
