Nearly a month after a foiled attack on a Jewish center and synagogue in the Bronx, the city receives grants from the Department of Homeland Security.
Sixty-one non-profit organizations throughout the city will receive more than $4 million.
The money will fund security measures at targeted institutions, namely yeshivas and synagogues.
Under the grant program, organizations will receive up to $75,000 that can be used to train security personnel and purchase security cameras.
The money will be disbursed within the next two months.
The amount represents a third of grants awarded nationwide.
Last month, the FBI arrested four men they say plotted to blow up a Jewish center and temple in Riverdale.
