Staten Island-Brooklyn Congressman Michael Grimm responded to allegations he engaged in some improper fundraising practices, denying any wrongdoing on NY1's "Inside City Hall" on Tuesday.

The representative came under the microscope after a series of articles in the New York Times raised questions about his fundraising practices, including whether he accepted campaign donations over the legal limit.

The reports also say an Israeli citizen with close ties to Grimm's campaign is under investigation by the FBI.

Grimm claims the allegations are part of a smear campaign by the Times and the Democratic party.

"I will not get distracted by the New York Times or any other liberal media. I will focus on fighting for Staten Island and Brooklyn every day that I'm in office and I guarantee you this is going to reverse on them," said Grimm. "People are going to see the work I'm doing and they're going to pay attention and they're going to vote for me."

Grimm is seeking a second term in office.
