Liam McCabe, a staff member for New York Congressman Michael Grimm, is facing third-degree assault charges after he was arrested Friday by a Brooklyn school.
Police say McCabe was upset after being called to the school to handle his 14-year-old son's disciplinary problem.
After being told his son was caught with marijuana, McCabe shook the boy and bruised the child's right arm in front of school safety agents, according to authorities.
McCabe, 33, who is Grimm's district director for community relations in Brooklyn, was arrested in front of the school.
The congressman, seen above, released a statement about the arrest, saying, "These are serious charges that have not been taken lightly. Liam has been a hard-working member of my staff; however, I have suspended his employment in my office until the results of the official investigation become known."
