The city's Democratic primary is still more than a year and a half away, but the likely candidates for mayor are already building their campaign war chests.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has reached the primary campaign cap of $6.73 million.
She raised most of it between 2006 and 2009, before the extension of term limits.
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer is the closest behind Quinn.
A spokesperson for Stringer said he has raised at least $3 million.
As of July filings, Comptroller John Liu has raised $1.5 million.
Liu's campaign account has become the subject of a federal investigation, so political observers are watching to see if the scandal affects the comptroller's ability to run.
