A Supreme Court decision could call the conviction of former State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno into question.
The court voted 6-3 to keep in place the Honest Services statute Bruno was convicted under, but its use will be limited to cases where prosecutors can show evidence of kickbacks or bribes.
Bruno faces two years in prison after he was convicted of denying New Yorkers honest services by making money through a consulting firm doing business with the state.
The judge who oversaw Bruno's case says he will meet with attorneys on both sides to discuss the ruling.
