Lehman College hosted a summit Wednesday in Bedford Park to address the educational state of Black and Latino men in the U.S.
Organizers planned the summit in hopes of providing opportunity for students to overcome educational challenges and to help plan for their success in higher education.
Speakers, including NY1's Dean Meminger, and members of the Lehman College community hosted a discussion panel and workshops to give students resources to strengthen their academic and personal development.
"The message today is empowering your educational walk. Making sure that the students understand that they can achieve any goal through any obstacles, through different shortcomings that they too can achieve," said Michael Deas, Director of the Center for Urban Male Leadership.
The Center for Urban Male Leadership was the host for Wednesday's first-ever educational summit.
