Now that the Triborough Bridge has been renamed after former New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy, some city schools are teaching lessons about his life.

His daughter, Kerry Kennedy, pictured above, made the announcement at the RFK Community High School in Flushing, Queens.

The lesson plans, for grades 4, 8 and 11, will highlight Robert Kennedy's commitment to social justice.

School chancellor Joel Klein said the late senator deserves the recognition.

"Individuals make a difference. Individuals can change the world,” said Klein. “Robert Kennedy was fond of saying, ‘Some people see what is and ask why. I see what isn't and ask why not.’"

"He helped get the vote for black people, so we really became a democracy for the first time in our history during his lifetime," said Kerry Kennedy.

The former New York senator was assassinated in 1968 during his run for president.
