More public school students will soon have access to laptop computers.
Several non-profit groups are donating XO laptops for use in elementary schools as part of the One Laptop Per Child program.
The eco-friendly, low-cost machines were originally designed for children in third-world countries.
Now the $200 computers are being tested at schools in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
Officials say curriculum is being developed to help teachers use the laptops.
