City Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott is reportedly telling the city's top high schools they should admit more disabled students.

The New York Daily News says Walcott emailed principals at the city's screened high schools earlier this month, telling them to admit as many special needs students as at neighboring schools, or the Department of Education would do it for them.

Screened schools are those which admit students based on test scores, essays and interviews.

According to the paper, 11 top high schools in the city had fewer than three special-needs students last year.

The city's specialized high schools will not be bound by the new order because they admit students solely based on their scores on the specialized high school admissions test.
