The The United Federation of Teachers said Tuesday it will appeal an appellate court ruling that the city can release the performance ratings of some 12,000 teachers.

An appellate judge upheld a lower court decision and denied a request to keep the information private.

The courts found the ratings, along with the teachers' names, are a matter of public record.

This was the latest round in a yearlong fight to get the data released.

NY1 is one of several news outlets that filed Freedom of Information requests.

The teachers' union is now headed to the state's highest court, the Court of Appeals.
