Parents rallied Friday to demand an end to what they say is unfair treatment of a school in Manhattan.
The protesters want the Department of Education to disclose details of the multiple ongoing investigations into Shuang Wen School and to reinstate the former principal, Ling Ling Chou, who was removed in July.
NY1 first reported the allegations of wrongdoing against the schools’ administration, parent association and after-school program last year.
"We feel like we're under active assault from the Department of Education, and when you're in a school that's under active assault from the Department of Education, you worry that your children are going to suffer during the battle, and honestly you got to take care of your children first,” said one New Yorker.
"They're proceeding against the school without a lot of factual evidence. In fact, what they're doing is they're impeding the progress of the school," said another.
The accusations against the school’s leaders include charging for required Mandarin classes and improperly admitting students from outside the school zone.
