Hundreds of city students will have a chance to take steps toward preventing bullying, thanks to a generous gift.
Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott announced the Community for Education Foundation has donated $3 million to bring its "Overcoming Obstacles Life Skills Program" to public schools.
The program aims to teach students to respect others, set personal goals and develop leadership skills through regular coaching and classroom lessons.
More than 100 schools participated in a pilot program this spring, and it will be rolled out to even more classrooms during the coming school year.
In all, more than 850 middle and high schools will have the option to participate.
