The city's teachers union is suing the Department of Education because of overcrowding at a Queens high school.

The United Federation of Teachers filed the lawsuit in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, asking the court to enforce an arbitrator's recommendation last year to reduce class sizes at Francis Lewis High School.

The school -- one of the most overcrowded in the city -- had nearly 2,000 more students than it could hold last year.

The DOE has until Friday to bring all classes under the maximum size.
