A Bronx high school graduate from Sierra Leone received a surprise tour of the New York Stock Exchange with the New York Yankees today.
Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia, general manager Brian Cashman and former star right fielder Reggie Jackson hung out with Mohamed Kamara on the trading floor today.
The visit was part of the team's special "HOPE" week, which stands for "Helping Others Preserve and Excel."
Kamara came to the city after surviving Sierra Leone's civil war six years ago. When he was not at school, he spent the past four years working as a caddie at a New Jersey golf course, sending money back home to his family.
After the tour, Kamara got a chance to meet with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium.
Kamara earned a partial scholarship to Rhode Island's Johnson and Wales University, where he is set to work toward a business degree.
