A Manhattan high school teacher who took his students to Cuba will not be allowed to ever work in the city school system again.

Following a three-year investigation, special schools investigator Richard Condon released a report Tuesday saying Nathan Turner, a Beacon High School teacher, was solely responsible for the unauthorized trip.

Condon says Turner took 30 public school students to Cuba over spring break in 2007, even after being told the visit was not sanctioned.

"They were not allowed to go to Cuba under the federal regulation and the students were detained at the border which put them in jeopardy of suffering civil penalties and criminal penalties and the school did not allow the trip and the Department of Education did not allow the trip," Condon said.

Investigators ruled Turner, who resigned during the probe, is ineligible for any future employment in the New York City Department of Education.

NY1 has reached out to the teachers' union for comment.
