A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday at the new home of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria.
Tony Bennett helped usher in a new era for the school, which has been in temporary space since opening in 2001.
Bennett, who founded the school, was joined by Sinatra's daughter Nancy and schools chancellor Joel Klein.
Students actually began classes at the new building earlier this month.
"They are so committed there's not one bad student in the whole school," Bennett said. "They have given everything that they can, and they're doing such beautiful work, I can't believe it. You'll see the results of it, their future's going to be magnificent, because they are learning so well."
The occasion is being marked with the third annual Exploring the Arts Benefit in Lower Manhattan.
The program aims to strengthen the role of arts in public education.
