Students from across the borough are helping to spruce up the new pedestrian plaza in Times Square.
About 100 students from 4th to 12th grade from all over the city are taking part in a design program at the Salvadori Center at City College in Harlem.
The kids are working with an engineer and architect to come up with their own plans.
"I was thinking maybe to put a plaza for everybody, so it's a more social environment, and maybe a mall so everybody could come together and it wouldn't be so empty," said student Alexa Monche. "You know, maybe a park for the area, so it smells better, not as much pollution."
"We'd love for Mayor Michael Bloomberg to check them out," said Salvadori Center Executive Director Dr. Leonisa Ardizzo. "We're going to save these, figure out how we can share them with the mayor, and maybe one of our kids, the Salvadori kids will come up with a plan for the city."
