Testimony from day two of the departmental trial for officers involved in the Sean Bell shooting reveals the officers should never have opened fire.

Police fired 50 shots at Bell on his wedding day outside a Jamaica club in November 2006.

The detectives involved in the shooting were acquitted in a criminal trial in 2008 but they could still lose their jobs.

A review board determined Detective Gescard Isnora and Officer Michael Carey unnecessarily endangered others by opening fire on a car containing Bell and two other men.

The officers told the board they felt they were in imminent danger because they heard one of the men ask someone to get his gun.

Both officers may take the stand as early as Wednesday.
