Two Question Errors Spotted Ahead Of Statewide Math Exam
With students poised to start the state math exams Wednesday, educators have found two faulty questions.
On the fourth grade tests, state officials say there is a question with two correct answers.
Additionally, on the eight grade exam, there's one with no correct answer.
The New York State Education Department instructed proctors to point out, if students ask about the particular questions, that there could be more than one correct answer or no correct answer.
Last week, state officials announced a question involving a racing pineapple and a hare on the state English exam would not count, following criticism from students and parents.
This is the first of a five-year, $32 million contract with the publishing company Pearson to make the tests.
The company did not respond to NY1's request for comment.
