Friends and family gathered Monday to say goodbye to a 5-year-old boy killed in a hit-and-run accident on Staten Island last week.
Funeral services for Kyrillos Gendy were held at Saint Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Holmdel, New Jersey.
He was killed Friday night while walking with his mother and sister on Richmond Road.
Police say he was struck by a black Mercedes SUV.
His mother and sister were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, John Sanjurjo, 33, pleaded not guilty to charges over the weekend, including leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
He was arraigned on Sunday.
His attorney says his client is not responsible for the crash.
