Twelve names were added to the World Trade Center Memorial Wall in a solemn ceremony Friday.
They're members of the FDNY who died of illnesses related to their work at the World Trade Center site during the aftermath of the September 11th attacks.
Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said that although the wall pays tribute to the fallen, it is also a reminder of one of the most painful days in the department's history.
"I want to tell you that this is the last time we will hold this ceremony. I want to, but I can't," Cassano said. "We will be here because that day continues to hurt us. Our grief is the price we pay for the love they showed us."
The memorial wall was unveiled in 2011 with the names of 64 fallen fire department members already on it.
