A Metropolitan Transportation Authority subway crew is on desk duty after driving their train on the wrong side of the tracks.
Sources tell NY1 that on August 11, a southbound A train had to be turned around at Canal Street and head back north.
Instead of using a so-called "spur" track to change direction to the northbound side, though, the train went uptown on the downtown track.
We're told the train was moving at reduced speed and all other southbound trains were halted.
The train eventually stopped at West 4th Street.
Sources say a miscommunication between the crew and dispatcher may be to blame.
The MTA continues to investigate the situation.
