Subway and bus riders may want to have cash in their wallets if they plan on refilling their MetroCard early Saturday morning.

MetroCard vending machines are getting a software upgrade and will not accept debit or credit cards from 1 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The upgrade will affect card use at all fare-vending machines for city transit, as well as PATH trains, and AirTrains at JFK and LaGuardia.

Riders can still purchase fares at station booths and MetroCard vending machines using cash.
