The Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Thursday named Joseph Giulietti the new president for Metro-North.
He takes over from current president Howard Permut when he retires at the end of the month.
Giulietti helped found Metro-North in 1983 and was a senior executive at the railroad for 15 years.
He spent the last 14 years as executive director of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority.
Giulietti takes over following a rough year for Metro-North that included last month's derailment in the Bronx that killed four people.
