The 7 train extension will not be complete until June, but that is not stopping Mayor Michael Bloomberg from taking the first ride later this week.

The mayor championed the more than $2 billion project, getting the city to bankroll the extension of the line from Times Square to 34th Street and 11th Avenue.

He is set to take a victory ride of sorts at noon on Friday, on board a special five-car train.

The 7 train extension is a key part of Bloomberg's push to develop the West Side near the Javits Center.

Construction on the extension is ongoing, and riders will have to wait until next summer before getting their first look at the megaproject.
