Employees at a city building where one of the derailment victims worked are pitching in to help his family.

James Ferrari was the go-to maintenance man at an office building in Manhattan for 30 years.

Employees said that he was traveling to work from his home in Westchester.

Those NY1 talked to said that they're happy to help Ferrari's family them any way they can.

"It's a way of helping support the family," said one person. "Any time you have a loss like that, he was probably either the primary breadwinner or someone's whose income they're highly dependent on, you can never have enough emotional and financial support."

"You know, he's like family," said another. "My office, we consider ourselves family. He's the family of the building, you know. He has been here a long time."

James Ferrari was 59 years old.
