Service will be suspended on the 7 subway line between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza this weekend and several more over the next couple of weeks.

The line will shut down from 11:45 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

Alternate service will be available on the E, F, N, Q and S lines.

Free shuttle buses will also be used.

After this weekend, the line will also be closed October 18 through October 21, October 25 through October 28, November 8 through November 11 and November 22 through November 25.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will use the time for the continued installation of Communications Based Train Control, which will help speed up service in the future.
