The city is defending its bike share program after reports of bumps in the road.

Riders are complaining docking stations are out of power and not accepting bikes or processing credit cards.

Some riders say they have to test numerous docking stations to retrieve or return a bike.

Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan says the system is experiencing an adjustment period as people learn how to use it and technicians troubleshoot it.

Department Of Transportation officials suggest if a bike dock is not working to try another dock or another station.

They also suggest pulling on the bike by the back of the seat to ensure it's properly docked.

The program has seen almost 200,000 trips in two weeks.
