A new City Council bill aims to curb some problems with the city's muni-meters.

If passed, the bill would require that parking meters not accept payments when a machine is out of paper for receipts.

They will also stop working when parking rules are not in affect, saving drivers money.

The meters will resume accepting payments again an hour before meter rules go back into affect.

The bill will be introduced at the next city council meeting, scheduled for May 8.
