American Airlines officials expect delays and cancellations for the rest of the day, including flights into LaGuardia Airport through its regional affiliate American Eagle, after they were able to restore their main reservations system following an outage lasting several hours today.

When the outage started, the airline reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration to halt all of its flights.

NY1 heard that some passengers were stuck on planes.

American Airlines customers who need to travel today can re-book their flights on another airline with an American Airlines agent, or by bringing their electronic ticket number to another airline counter. The fare difference will be honored by American Airlines.

For those who choose not to travel today, the airline says there will be no charge for reservation changes or a full refund will be given.

According to American Airline, there is no evidence that the outage is connected with the recent explosions in Boston.
