The Super Bowl may have been played in New Jersey, but many of the ticket holders were coming from the city. NY1's Jon Weinstein took the train from Penn Station with thousands of fans and filed the following report..

The fans didn't need to wait to get the stadium to start showing their pride. At every step of the way from Penn Station to East Rutherford, the excitement was apparent.

"It means the world just to be able to be a part of it and watch the Broncos," said one fan.

"It's every kid's dream to go to a Super Bowl," said a third. "It's a once-in-the-lifetime opportunity."

Officials sold the game as the first truly mass transit Super Bowl, and that was absolutely the case.

While the lines were long and the train cars packed, Broncos and Seahawks fans agreed that this was the way to go.

"People here have been super nice, super generous and really helpful in telling us where to go."

"It has worked beautifully," said another.

The security presence was obvious and intense, with TSA workers checking bags airport style.

"I have to give a lot of credit to New York and New Jersey for the security they're doing," said one person.

That high level of security continued once the fans were at MetLife Stadium. Because of that, there was one thing missing: the tailgating.

"I could absolutely care less," said one person. "In the interest of being safe, I think they've done a phenomenal job.

Really, though, this is all about the fun, and of course, cheering on their teams.

"We got a better team as a whole. They only got one player," said one Seahawks fan.

Broncos fan: Von Miller was injured, the defense stepped it up.
Q: So it's not just Peyton Manning?
Broncos fan: He's a big key, but it's not a one-man team.

"I want to see these trash cans full of Seahawks jerseys," said another Broncos fan.

While many fans disagreed on who had the better team, there was one thing everyone was in agreement on.

"This is our first ever Super Bowl to get to come to," said one fan. "Just an amazing experience to write off the bucket list."

"This is awesome. This is the coolest thing I've ever been to, easy," said another.

"Unbelievable," said a third. "Dream come true."

We also heard a lot of praise for the hosts.

"Everybody's just having a great time, and the energy is wonderful," said one person.

"We've had a great time," said another. "My kids got to see New York, and it's a great tourist place anyway."

After all the talk about this being the first cold=weather Super Bowl, it felt like spring time, perfect for the biggest game there is.
