The city has received billions of dollars in federal aid to recover from Hurricane Sandy, and now, you can get a closer look at how that money is being spent.

The Bloomberg administration has launched its Hurricane Sandy funding tracker.

The website has summaries of how much money the city has received and how much it has spent.

Administration officials say that some of the information will be updated on a monthly basis, while some of it will be updated quarterly.

"What are the sources of federal funding that the city is getting to recover from Sandy, how is the city putting those funds to use and in what areas, and where are we in the process of actually spending that money," said Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway.

The City Council is considering legislation to require more detail, including reporting jobs created by each city contract and, in some cases, the addresses of individuals who receive federal funding.

The administration argues that some of those proposals raise privacy concerns.
