A popular Red Hook watering hole is back in business after friends and volunteers raised more than $100,000 to help repair it.

With the cut of a ribbon, Sunny's Bar once again welcomed thirsty patrons Thursday.

The bar had been closed since Hurricane Sandy.

Waters from the storm surge tore the bar apart.

The basement and the main bar area were flooded.

The owners vowed to reopen, and they they kept their word.

The grand reopening coincided with owner Sunny Balzano's 79th birthday.
