Thousands of students from the Success Academy Charter School network gathered for a big pep rally ahead of state exams.
Elementary and middle school students cheered and danced in an armory in Washington Heights.
The Academy says it holds the rally every year to celebrate student's hard work and get them ready for the state-wide standardized tests.
This year, Eva Moskowitz, the founder and CEO of the charter schools, found herself at odds with the de Blasio administration.
But she applauded the mayor's recent attempts to smooth over the controversy.
"I was delighted to see a change in tone and rhetoric. I think that's very, very encouraging and we were very, very happy that it's not the district schools pitted against charter schools, but the mayor seems to believe and the chancellor believes in all children."
Moskowitz says she's hoping for Albany's support in finding a long-term solution to the charter school situation in the city.
