The City Council has announced that a hearing will be held on February 11 on a resolution in support of Mayor Bill de Blasio's pre-kindergarten plan.
Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito says that the Education and Women's Issues Committees will hear from education and early childhood development experts.
The speaker and Education Chairman Daniel Dromm are outspoken supporters of the mayor's plan to use taxpayer money to fund pre-k and after-school programs.
The plan faces opposition at the state level.
Governor Andrew Cuomo supports the push for pre-k, but says he wants to pay for it with money from the state's budget.
