Mayor Michael Bloomberg is criticizing a judge's ruling that a teacher caught carrying 20 vials of heroin into jury duty should not be fired.

Last October, a court officer found the heroin inside Damien Esteban's cigarette pack during a security check.

In May, an arbitrator decided Esteban should be fired from his job at Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design in Brooklyn.

But this week, a judge vacated that decision, saying the penalty was harsh and unfair.

Bloomberg calls that absurd.

"Forget about the bad guy bringing heroin to the jury room or to the court house. That's stupidity there. This is not somebody that should be in front of our kids," Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg says the city will appeal the decision. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
