With a Bronx school teacher facing charges including the rape of a student, state Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. is calling for a wider investigation and the installation of cameras in all public schools.
Diaz wants to see if there were any additional complaints that were made against elementary school teacher Anthony Criscuolo.
Criscuolo was charged last week with allegedly raping a 10-year-old student.
Diaz says he will introduce legislation to deal with teachers like Criscuolo.
"Any and all teachers or school personnel that are charged with rape or harassment or sexual misconduct should not be allowed to enter into the classroom or into any school building," the state senator said.
Diaz was joined at Monday's news conference by members of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization and the grandmother of the alleged 10-year-old victim.
