CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein is stepping down.

Goldstein says he will leave his position this summer.

He didn't give a reason for the decision, but did call the post 'the greatest privilege' of his professional life.

In 1999, Goldstein became the first CUNY graduate to be appointed chancellor.

He is credited with raising admission standards, hiring new faculty and creating partnerships with city government. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
