Despite a recent spike in murders over the past several weeks, the city is still on pace to beat last year's record low.
According to police statistics murders rose 27 percent over the past four weeks.
There were 28 killings in the city during that time period, that's compared to 22 last year.
Ten of those murders occurred in the past seven days, including the two officers murdered in Brooklyn over the weekend.
Despite the bloody end to the year the city is still set to beat last years count of 335.
