Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner William Bratton on Thursday said the city is ready for this weekend's marathon.

The pair held a news conference at the Javits Center to discuss security for the race.

The mayor and Bratton stressed that conditions for Sunday are more than safe.

Like last year, backpacks are prohibited.

Bratton also said he ha heard no chatter referring to any threats to racers.

"There is no intelligence indicating any specific threat directed against this event or the city, actually we stay very much aware of that, very much focused. The good news going into the event that we are not aware at this time of anything that is specifically related to the event," Bratton said.

Officials and organizers say security measures put into place last year in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, remain in effect for this year, including full searches and scans for all items brought to the race. ClientIP:, UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; + Profile: TWCSAMLSP
