A wrong-way crash Tuesday morning on the New York State Thruway claimed the lives of two people, including an off-duty NYPD officer.
It happened in Rockland County at around 7 a.m.
Sources say the officer was driving southbound and crossed into the northbound lanes near Exit 15, striking another car.
Both drivers were killed in the crash.
NY1 is told the officer, who was assigned to the 43rd precinct in the Bronx, left work after midnight.
An investigation is ongoing.
