A change of command is coming to the New York City Police Department.

After more than 30 years with the department, Chief of Patrol James Hall is retiring.

He will be replaced by Deputy Chief James O'Neill, who currently works as a commanding officer in the police commissioners' office.

Hall's last day is next Friday, May 30.
