Police Commissioner William Bratton says the city police department is keeping an eye on the threat of car bombs.

Bratton made the comments Wednesday when he was asked about reports that the al-Qaeda funded magazine Inspire is urging potential terrorists to use car bombs to attack targets like Times Square.

The magazine also gives detailed instructions on how make deadlier bombs than the ones used at last year's Boston Marathon.

Bratton says the city is prepared for any threat.

"One of the reasons we have such a large counterterrorism operation here in New York is- almost a thousand officers- is to try to address every type of threat, whether the international or the homegrown lone wolf," Bratton said.

When asked if he had a message for anyone planning to attack New York, Bratton responding by saying, "Don't. We have got a really good track record, my predecessor Commissioner Kelly, rightfully so, continually point out that every plot that was directed against the city fortunately was deterred and we'll certainly seek to strive to continue to have that the case."

The Inspire Magazine article reportedly lists the U.S. as the number one terrorist target, followed by the United Kingdom and France.
