A lawsuit that aims to stop a massive security plan for the World Trade Center goes before a state judge today.
Local residents are suing the city, the New York City Police Department and the Port Authority over the proposal which would bring guard booths, gates, fencing and checkpoints to the neighborhood.
They say the $40 million plan would block them in, leading to overcrowding and the disruption of everyday life.
The plaintiffs want the judge to force police to look at alternatives.
The NYPD is defending the plan, saying it's necessary for keeping downtown safe.
