Two city police officers are being hailed as heroes after they pulled two people out of a burning car Thursday in Brooklyn.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of McDonald Avenue and Avenue T in Sheepshead Bay.

Police say a car crashed into the pillar of an elevated train track and went up in flames.

Officers Eddie Wong and Annette Lancaster were nearby and responded.

After breaking the windows of the car to ventilate it, they managed to pull the driver's door open with some help from local residents.

They got the driver out, then the front seat passenger a few minutes later.

Another person in the car managed to make it out safely before the fire started.

Officers Wong and Lancaster were treated for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
