The family of a teenage boy shot and killed by police is suing the city.

Parents of 16-year-old Kimani Gray filed a notice of claim for a wrongful death lawsuit.

They say the New York City Police Department used excessive force in the March 9 shooting of their son.

Gray was with a group of men in front of a house in East Flatbush when police say they saw him adjusting his waistband and acting suspiciously.

Officers opened fire when they say he pointed a gun at them.

The Brooklyn District Attorney is still investigating the shooting.
